Over the years, I’ve found a lot of ways to make your track’s elements wider, but today I’m sharing with you my top 5.
Making your elements wider is important when trying to make space within your mix for certain elements to shine through. For example, it may not be interesting to have your main vocal on the sides, but it could be amazing to have background vocals on the side. Therefore, we need to understand how we can make our elements, especially mono elements, wider.
Within these five, only one of them will require you to buy an external plugin called Microshift from Soundtoys. Other than that, you can do all these techniques with the free plugin from Polyverse ‘Wider’ and native VSTs from your DAW. Both have a special place in my top 10 VSTs, which you can check in this post.
